Precinct rejuvenation sets precedent
The judges awarded two commendations and a winner for this category.
The first special commendation goes to a project that faced a great deal of adversity when first proposed and yet in their most recent release sold an apartment to one of those agitators – which is a true sign of community acceptance. This company has spent 15 years in this precinct and has stimulated a jewel in the crown for the local LGA. This company is Mirvac and Lattitude at Leighton.
The 2nd special commendation was nominated by the Judges because they felt that this project had delivered a vibrant precinct which will catalyst the rest of this well known strip. And it wasn’t just because they managed to provide a beer in the Boston Brewery at the end of a long day of judging! The special commendation goes to Vic Quarter and Celsius Property Group.
Ok so now for the winner. What struck the judges about this precinct rejuvenation was the clever use of under utilised space to create a precinct which is a truly liveable village. This organisation has delivered apartment living in an affluent suburb that would have previously been wary of density and the judges believe is a showcase for future planning.
The winning entrant is Development WA and Claremont on the Park.
Finalists: Pelago – Finbar, Liv – Hassell, 19 Duoro Rd – Motus Architecture
