Recent research by Australian Apartment Advocacy has found that owner occupiers and investors alike purchased their apartment based on its location (85% nationally) followed closely by proximity to public transport (55%) and in particular they liked their apartment because it was close to public transport (77%), close to shops (71%), restaurants (68%) and parks (58%). Why do buyers have reservations of buying off the plan?

Australian Apartment Advocacy’s recent research has shown an all time low when it comes to buyer confidence with buying off the plan. In WA only 14% would feel extremely or very comfortable buying their apartment off the plan – on par with the national rating. But in NSW it was just 9%. Certainly knowledge is power and once you buy a home or apartment there are often aspects that you would change to make your life better – and this was true with the respondents to the recent Australian Apartment Advocacy research. Not surprisingly there was once again consistencies across the states with 37% of respondents nationally stating that they would like more storage followed by more parking bays (26%). The recent research conducted by Australian Apartment Advocacy has indicated that investors across the country are feeling buoyant about their property values with NSW leading the pack, with 94% believing their apartment will have improved in value in the next 10 years. There was also consistency across the states in terms of what investors were looking for when they purchased their current apartment, with 54% seeking a two bedroom and 63% seeking one car bay. 15% nationally were seeking three bedroom apartments with WA and QLD showing a greater preference at 17% and 19% respectively.
